We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this privacy notice (the “Notice”). This Notice applies to information we collect on our website (the “Website”), which you can find here https://pritc.org/, and to all services we my provide to you (“You”) via the Website such as, joining our membership, subscribing to our newsletter, job postings, recruitment opportunities, collaboration opportunities with other professionals; or any other service offered though the Website (the “Services”). The Notice tells you everything you need to know about how the Puerto Rico Information Technology Cluster (“PRITC”, “we” or “us”) protects the personal information we process and control relating to You and which rights you have in relation to the processing of your personal information.

This Notice does not apply to information provided or made available by You that: (a) is or becomes publicly available without breach of this Notice; (b) can be shown by documentation to have been known to the receiving party at the time of its receipt from the disclosing party; (c) is received from a third party who did not acquire or disclose the same by a wrongful or tortious act; or (d) can be shown by documentation to have been independently developed by the receiving party.

Information We Collect About You and How We Collect It

We collect information (“Collected Information”) from or about users of our Website, including:

  • Information by which You may be personally or individually identified, such as name, surname, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number or any other identifier that by which you may be contacted online or offline (“Personal Information”);
  • Information that is about You but individually does not identify You, such as job title, time and date of visits to the Website, etc.;

The Website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service by Google, Inc, (“Google”). Google Analytics employs cookies that are stored to your computer in order to facilitate an analysis of your use of the Website. The information generated by these cookies, such as time, place and frequency of your visits to the Website, including your IP address, is transmitted to Google’s location in the United States and stored there. We use the information collected by Google Analytics only to improve the Website or Services.

Google uses this information to analyze your use of the Website, to compile reports for us on internet activity and to provide other services relating to the Website. The PRITC does not sell or rent the Personal Information to third parties. Notwithstanding, we may disclose Personal Information in connection with the foregoing uses to our affiliates, business partners, successors, assigns and their representatives, and to personnel, agents, service providers and contractors who perform functions on our behalf or otherwise in connection with the foregoing uses. We may disclose Personal Information as part of a substantial corporate transaction, such as a sale, merger, consolidation, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or asset sale; to comply with valid legal requirements such as a law, regulation, search warrant, subpoena or court order; or in special cases, such as in response to, to prevent or to stop a physical threat, harm, threats to safety, liability, risks, criminality or tortious conduct onto you, us, our users, their property, or defend or assert legal rights.

We strive to provide You with choices regarding the Personal Information you provide to us. We have mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your information:

Chats, Postings, Blogs and other User Forums

We may provide an opportunity for users of the Website or Services to communicate via postings, chat rooms, blogs and other public and interactive forums on or through our Website (“User Forums”). Our User Forums are open to the public and should not be considered private, unless indicated otherwise on the Website.

Any information You share in any User Forum (including Personal Information) is by design open to the public and is not private. We are not responsible for any information that You share in any User Forum. You should be aware of the risks to You which can arise from sharing Personal Information in any User Forum. If You mistakenly post information on any User Forum and would like it removed, please contact us to request its removal. We will try our best to accommodate such removal request – however, not all information may be removable and, even if it is, it will take some time to complete the removal.

Please be aware that what you share in User Forums can be seen, disclosed to, collected and used by parties in ways we cannot control or predict, including to contact You for any purpose.

The PRITC takes precautions, including administrative, technical, and physical measures consistent with current industry standards, to safeguard the Collected Information against loss, theft, and misuse, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.

You can help the PRITC by also taking precautions to protect Collected Information when You use the Website or Service, such as changing the passwords often using a combination of letters, numbers and special characters and making sure you use a secure browser.

While we endeavor to protect the security and integrity of sensitive Personal Information collected via the Website, due to the inherent nature of the internet as an open global communications vehicle, we cannot guarantee that any information, during transmission through the internet or while stored on our system or otherwise in our care, will be absolutely safe from intrusion by others, such as hackers.

Accessing and Updating Your Personal Information

You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of information You provide to the PRITC. Inaccurate information may affect the information you receive when using the Services. To access, review, rectify, or delete Personal Information collected about You, please contact us using the information in the “Contact Us” section of this Notice. All requests must include the following information: first name, last name, e-mail address, and any known location of Personal Information controlled by us. While we try our best to accommodate your request, we reserve the right to impose certain restrictions and requirements on such access requests and not all information may be removable.

Children – Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act

We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of thirteen (13). If You are under the age of thirteen (13), please do not submit any Personal Information through the Services. We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s Internet usage and to help enforce our Privacy Notice by instructing their children never to provide Personal Information through the Services without their permission. If You have reason to believe that a child under the age of 13 has provided Personal Information to us through the Services, please contact us and we will endeavor to delete that information from our databases.

Notice to European Users and International Privacy Laws

If You are visiting the Website or accessing the Services from outside the United States, please be aware that You are sending information (including Personal Information) to the United States of America or its territories where our servers are located. Any information you enter on this Website may be transferred outside of the European Union to the United States of America and its territories which do not offer an equivalent level of protection to that required in the European Union. Lastly, this Website and the Services are targeted to users in the United States of America and its territories; and particularly to Puerto Rico. The PRITC does not target data subjects, as that term is defined in the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), located in the European Union (“EU”) or European Economic Area (“EEA”) and does not intend to, nor envisages itself, offering goods or services to data subjects in one or more member states of the European Union. Likewise, any data processing or storage done via the Website occurs outside the EU/EEA as well.

We reserve the right to amend this privacy notice at our discretion and at any time. When we make changes to this privacy notice, we will post the updated notice on the Website and update the notice’s effective date.
